  • The Actors Fund is a national human services organization that helps everyone, on stage and those behind the scenes, who works in entertainment and performing arts. As a safety net for those in need, crisis or transition, The Actors Fund provides comprehensive social services including counseling, crisis intervention and connections to local resources for personal, family or work related problems as well as emergency financial assistance for basic living necessities. The Fund also offers employment and training programs and a national health insurance resource center. In New York City, The Actors Fund has a free health clinic for the uninsured, and supportive and affordable housing in two residences. The Actors Home in Englewood, NJ features both assisted living and skilled nursing for retirees.

The Hospital Care Assurance Program (HCAP) requires hospitals to "provide, without charge to the individual, basic, medically necessary hospital-level services" for low-income Ohio residents who are not Medicaid recipients. In most cases, this will be 65-85% less than the non-discounted price. The Fair Pricing discount is a legal requirement, and any uninsured person can apply for a Fair Price discount or free care even if the bill has already been sent to a collection agency.
